Why revive it
Unlike the alternatives. Athens was a collaborative knowledge graph where relationships between ideas, notes, and information are a focus. Its graph-oriented model is great for research and teams in the need of keeping knowledge organized, specially if they want more control and portability than what alternatives provide.
Revival goal
Bring Athens back to what it was (a self-hostable collaborative knowledge graph) while preserving / improving its graph-first model and data portability. Plus increasing modern reliability.
Status
The maintainers have explicitly stopped or clearly walked away.
Why it was abandoned
Reason unknown. Explicit and public announcement in both repository description and read-me.
